CBS CENTRAL BATTERY SYSTEM
The CBS EPS Digital is available in power sizes from 150VA to 2000VA. The central supplies the load with 230VAC sine-wave voltage both before and after mains-failure which means that almost any luminaries and light sources can be used. The lamps should be compensated to at least cos. fi. 0,8 and should be able to handle a break of 0,5 seconds during the switch from mains to battery power according to EN 50171.
MIMIC PANEL
On the front of the CBS EPS all the necessary operational values such as input voltage, connected load, battery-voltage, alarms etc. are shown in the digital display. Large push-button makes it easy scroll in the menus and to program the central if it is wanted. The mimic panel also has 4 LEDs for quick status monitoring which shows mains connected, battery operation, charger off and if the unit is in test.

HIGH EFFICIENCY
Because the centrals are of “offline” type they have up to 98 % efficiency during normal conditions which gives low energy-consumption and heat dissipation. This makes the operational costs, cooling-need and environmental impact down to a minimum which makes the CBS EPS truly “green”.

AUTO TEST ACCORDING TO CURRENT STANDARDS
The CBS EPS Digital centrals are equipped with automatic tests to monitor all the important internal functions according to the European standards EN 50171 & EN 50172. This includes the function of the batteries, charging and autonomy. It is easy to program which specific weekday and time the test shall be executed via the mimic panel so as not to interfere with the customers daily operations. Because manual tests then become obsolete, the operational costs will be kept to a minimum.
LOAD MONITORING
In addition to above auto-test the CBS EPS Digital also monitors the connected load. The systems senses if a luminare or light-source is broken and also shows which output it is connected to. The sensitivity can be adjusted to monitor even down to a single LED luminare. During the test the central lights up all the outputs so that also emergency luminaries that normally are OFF are checked too.
MONITORING OF SUB-CENTRALS (3-PHASE MONITORING UNIT -OPTIONAL)
In the CBS EPS centrals there is also an input that can be used for external 3-phase monitoring (art No. M-CBS0011). These can be placed locally in a sub-centrals to monitor local mains-failures out in the building. If the devices are activated then all the outputs of the EPS’s are lit up even though the mains connected to the central is OK.
ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY WITH ENERGY SAVE FUNCTION
To save energy is important to building owners today both for economical as well as environmental reasons. This fact has been taken into consideration on the CBS EPS Digital since it also has an input to turn off all the luminares when they do not need to be on. The input can for example be automatically activated from a burglar alarm so that all the emergency lights are turned off when there is no one on the premises. The charging of the batteries remains active and if a mains failure occurs during this state, all the luminaries will light up. The above actions give large savings on energy-costs, light-sources and not the least, the environment
INPUT FOR FIRE-ALARM
The centrals also have the possibility to be controlled via an input that turns on all the connected luminaries. The input can either transmit or receive voltage (24VDC) from external devices such as fire-alarms.
EXTERNAL ALARM
The centrals have three potential-free outputs on terminals for alarms. Common alarm, mains failure and load error. These can for example be connected to an external alarm panel or KNX system.
EARTHLEAKAGE MONITORED OUTPUTS FOR HIGH FLEXIBILITY AND SAFETY
The CBS EPS Digital has four outputs as standard for the load that can be controlled completely individually. As example; two outputs can always be on for exit signs and two outputs can be off for escape route lighting. It is also possible to connect external light-switches to the centrals to put on and off luminaries during normal conditions. If a mains failure occurs the EPS turns on all the outputs even if they are in an off condition. As an accessory the centrals can be equipped with an extra internal PCB with 12 outputs. The control and monitoring will then be in groups of 3. The outputs are individually secured both electronically and with ultra fast UR fuse. Every output also have earth-leakage monitoring with off/on, 0-30mA/100mA/300mA depending on using of the CBS EPS. If a short-circuit or earth-leakage problem occurs the central only shuts down the applicable output.
100 % LIGHT
The CBS EPSs are delivered with powerful batteries manufactured according to Eurobat 1999 “10-12 years- High Performance” and gives 100 % light in at least 60 minutes during a mains failure. The batteries are sealed lead acid so the centrals can therefore be installed in normal indoor environments.
PLUG’N’PLAY
The CBS centrals are delivered complete where everything is ready to be used immediately. The batteries are connected and all the necessary adjustments are already made in the spirit of true Plug’n’Play. In the manual all the vital information needed can be found for installation, commissioning and maintenance.
