Designed by Michele De Lucchi, the Plissé kettle combines functional aspects with a plastic and fascinating design that reveals the creator's architectural background, as well as his passion for the handicraft and for sculpture.
Like a fabric that a thick pleating transforms into a three-dimensional shape, this kettle is reminiscent of an haute couture dress, a beautiful object to be left on display on your kitchen top.
DESIGNER
MICHELE DE LUCCHI
Born in ferrara in 1951.
He has been a protagonist of uncompromising architecture and radical design since the 1970s.
He has designed buildings for well-known companies and executed architectural projects all over the world: from industrial buildings to cultural centres.
His design language balances functionality and poetry and combines essential shapes, natural materials and a craftsman's approach that combines innovation and tradition.
He is the founder of amdl circle, a multidisciplinary studio with a humanistic approach to design, and has received several prestigious awards, including the compasso d'oro for his life's work. His works are exhibited in the most important international museums.

STORY
"The Plissé kettle has a shape defined by the folds of a very old but still relevant technique. With the skillful and creative use of folding, designers shape fabrics and create clothes like art sculptures. Plissé is shaped from a folded sheet of paper and made by Alessi as a beautiful sartorial object. The folds shape the form, mold it, structure it - because a form without folds is just a volume without form. The folds transform simple two-dimensional sheets into three-dimensional objects."
